On March 24, the delegation from the University of Canterbury (UC) visited HUST’s School of Humanities. In delegation included Kevin Watson, Chairperson of Confucius Institute and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Song Zhifang, Foreign Dean of the Confucius Institute, Antonio Viselli, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Global, Cultural and Language Studies, and Yang Wenting, Coordinator of the Confucius Institute Program at UC.
During the visit, Huang Renxuan, Dean of the School of Humanities, presented an overview of the School of Humanities, including its development history, discipline construction and current status of international collaborations. Meanwhile, Kevin Watson introduced the distinctive features of UC’s Faculty of Arts, highlighting its advanced disciplines, educational model, and support systems for student development.
The discussion focused on the development of a degree in digital humanities, credit recognition for short-term programs, joint training programs, visitng scholar programs, and cultural summer camps. Furthermore, the attendees explored ways to strengthen cooperation and communication in education, scientific research, and talent cultivation, expanded potential collaboration areas, and reached a consensus on deepening partnership.
Leaders of the School of Humanities, the School of International Education and the Confucius Institute Office also participated in the colloquium.
