From November 18 to 21, Zhang Yonghui, Vice President of HUST, headed the delegation to visit Germany and Poland. The delegation participated in the Sino-German Workshop on “Industrial Metaverse” and the 38th Session of the Poland-China Scientific and Technological Cooperation Committee, and visited various key partner universities.
On November 18, the 9th Sino-German Workshop on “Industrial Metaverse”, co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech), was held at the Acatech headquarters. As the lead university on the Chinese side, HUST invited prominent experts from both countries to share views on the development and application of “Industrial Metaverse”, exploring the opportunities and challenges facing the industrial transformation towards intelligence.
Wang Chen, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Jan Wörner, President of Acatech, addressed the opening ceremony, expressing the hope for further cooperation to contribute to the industrial transformation.
During the workshop, specialists and scholars from different universities and institutions, including the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and RWTH Aachen University, exchanged their researches on industrial metaverse, digital twin and intelligent manufacturing, exploring possibilities for cooperation.
In his closing remarks, Zhang Yonghui hailed the workshop as a valuable platform for academic communication and cooperation. He pledged that HUST, with its robust engineering and medical disciplines, will continue to support academic exchanges with German universities and contribute to global sustainable development.
At the University of Warsaw (UW), Zhang Yonghui had a discussion and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alojzy Nowak, Rector of UW. Alojzy Nowak praised HUST highly for recent achievements, hoping to enhance cooperation. Zhang Yonghui pointed out that the two universities have collaboration foundation in the field of physics, optics, measurement and control technology, and he looked forward to deepening bilateral cooperation.
On November 20, the 38th Session of the Poland-China Scientific and Technological Cooperation Committee was held in Warsaw. The session was presided over by Lin Xin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and Andrzej Szeptycki, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland. Zhang Yonghui was invited to deliver a keynote speech and introduced current collaborations between HUST and Polish universities and institutions, especially the joint laboratories with Polish institutions and further cooperation initiatives.
The delegation also visited Technical University of Munich, promoting the cooperation between the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering in HUST and the School of Engineering in TUM. At the Polish Academy of Sciences, they introduced HUST’s advantages in fundamental research and visited Leibniz Supercomputing Center, SAP Munich Laboratory and other research platforms.
